Expo City has something special for the kid and families this season. If you’ve been looking for kids activities in Expo City that feel more interactive and a bit more meaningful, there are a few unique experiences worth keeping on your list.
These are the kind of activities where kids get involved, create, and explore, and parents can join in too rather than just watching from the side. It all comes together as an easy, well-paced family day. Here’s what’s happening at Expo City right now, and how to build your visit around it.
Saturdays at the House in Expo City
Saturdays at the House returns to Expo City. Happening on May 2, it’s one of the more thoughtful experiences to check out. A screen-free family experience designed for quality time together, with hands-on sessions in art, wellness, and music led by artists and creative practitioners. It’s designed for ages 4 to 16, with space for both kids and parents to take part.
The pace is relaxed, with space to move between sessions, explore the gallery, or take a break at The Third Place for coffee. It works well as a slower part of the day, something to drop into without overplanning.
Beekeeping, Kids Edition at Expo City
This is the highlight if you’re visiting with kids. A 60-minute small-group workshop at Terra for ages 5 to 12, led by Dr Meriem Hammal, known locally as the Bee Fairy Lady. It’s a mix of play and learning, with games, short quizzes, beeswax candle-making, and a proper introduction to native Arabian bees. It runs until May 9, and weekend sessions tend to fill up first.
The session keeps things simple and engaging, with a good mix of learning and hands-on moments. The candle-making at the end is usually the highlight, and something kids actually take with them after.
A quick note before you go: closed shoes are required, and it’s best to avoid perfumes or scented products. If you’re planning to explore more of Terra after, you may need a separate ticket.
Inside the Hive Experience at Expo City
If you’re already at Terra, or planning a longer visit to Expo City, this is the one to layer in. Designed more for older kids and adults, it’s a guided hive experience with a hands-on honey harvesting session, your own jar to take home, and full access to the Terra Exhibition included. Runs until May 16.
This one leans more into a slower, more immersive experience. It’s less about keeping kids busy and more about getting a real sense of how a hive works. If you’re looking for something to experience together with the kids, this is a better fit.
It all fits easily into one day. Start with one of the morning sessions while it’s still cooler, take a break around Terra, then move between the rest of the experiences at your own pace. Easy to plan, and you don’t need to move around much.
