Dubai’s aviation future is set to shift south: by around 2034, every passenger and cargo flight will move from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Al Maktoum International Airport. In anticipation of this major transition, Dubai South Properties has unveiled South Square, a large-scale luxury residential development built only minutes from the upcoming airport terminal.

Located off Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, South Square will offer 550 apartments across a series of towers. The first release, the S4 Tower, sold out in just three hours, underscoring strong demand for homes in this emerging district. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for 2028, giving residents ample time to settle in before the airport switch is complete.

Nabil Al Kindi, CEO of Dubai South Properties, explained that the area’s appeal lies in its “strategic location, modern infrastructure, and exceptional connectivity to the rest of the city.” He added that South Square is “our response to this momentum — offering spacious homes, wellness-focused amenities, and proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport and key roads.”

As Dubai prepares to fold DXB’s operations into the state-of-the-art Al Maktoum hub, South Square presents a timely opportunity for those seeking a premium residence near the city’s next major aviation gateway. Whether for frequent flyers, airport staff, or anyone attracted by Dubai South’s growing infrastructure, South Square is positioned to become one of the most sought-after addresses in the emirate.
