Biography & Career:
Gordo is a Guatemalan-American DJ, record producer, and former rapper whose career has spanned more than two decades and several musical reinventions. Born Diamanté Anthony Blackmon in Guatemala City, with family roots in Nicaragua, the producer relocated to the United States and began DJing in local clubs as a teenager. By his mid-twenties he had earned global recognition under the name Carnage, a festival-trap powerhouse known for explosive live sets at Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival and for hits like Bricks with Migos and I Like Tuh with ILoveMakonnen.
In 2022 the artist retired the Carnage moniker and rebranded as Gordo, signaling a deliberate shift away from EDM maximalism toward deeper, stripped-back grooves that reconnect with his cultural roots. The Gordo dj genre now centers on house and techno, with strong reggaeton and Latin influences woven throughout. That reinvention coincided with his most high-profile work yet: producing several tracks on Drake's album Honestly, Nevermind, including the chart-topping single Sticky, where Drake famously rapped that Gordo got him on the wave.
That partnership deepened over the following years, with the producer contributing to Drake projects featuring Bad Bunny, SZA, and others, and eventually releasing his own deeply personal debut album, Diamante, with Drake serving as executive producer. As Gordo, the artist has held a residency at the XS nightclub in Las Vegas and performed at festivals such as Electric Zoo, while launching tours across Latin America that fuse house, club, techno, and corridos.
The producer's willingness to cross between rap, dance music, and Latin styles has made him a singular figure in modern music. Whether reshaping a pop superstar's sound or commanding a festival stage, Gordo keeps pushing toward fresh territory, driven by a simple mission he shares with his collaborators: to make people dance and have a good time.
